IS INDIA SAFE TO TRAVEL?

Yes, India is safe to travel. WHAT ARE THE ROADS LIKE?

The roads on our journey are mostly well-paved, offering the thrill of open, winding paths through scenic landscapes. In some areas, you'll come across active construction by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) – keep an eye out for their quirky safety signs, which are sure to bring a smile to your face! While most of the route is smooth, there are sections with unpaved stretches, gravel, and occasional river crossings. Rest assured, our experienced trip leader will guide the group along the safest routes to ensure a memorable and secure adventure.

WHAT ABOUT THE MOTORCYCLES?

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the bike we will using on our journeys. It is a remarkable motorcycle engineered for rugged terrains and challenging landscapes, making it a perfect companion for Himalayan adventures. Designed with a high-performance 450cc single-cylinder engine, this bike offers the ideal balance of power, torque, and efficiency to handle the diverse and often unpredictable mountain roads.

DO I NEED A VISA?

ARE THERE ANY HEALTH CONCERNS?

The Himalayan mountains are a breathtaking place, but the altitude can take some adjusting. As you go higher, oxygen levels decrease, which might cause mild symptoms like headaches, dizziness, or shortness of breath. The best way to enjoy the heights? Take it slow! Give yourself time to adjust, stay hydrated, and don’t hesitate to rest whenever you need to. If you start to feel any serious symptoms, like severe headache or nausea, it’s always best to descend a little and take a breather.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO?

The ideal time to visit Ladakh is from May to September when the weather is more favorable for riding and exploring. The weather is favorable, and in the high deserts of Ladakh, you will be treated to beautiful weather. 

SUN PROTECTION

The summer sun can be intense, especially at high altitudes where UV exposure is stronger. Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses are must-haves to keep your skin safe. 

HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS?

We prefer to start the journey with group sizes of 8-10.With fewer people, there’s more room for individual exploration, interaction with locals, and a deeper connection to the landscapes of Ladakh.

DO I NEED A MOTORCYCLE LICENSE FOR THE TOUR?

Yes, a valid motorcycle license is required to participate in the tour. While we expect you to have motorcycle riding experience and knowledge of the roads, we do also provide a training program to get your skills sharpened for the rides ahead. 

ANY SPECIAL GEAR REQUIREMENT FOR THE TOUR?

Participants should wear proper riding gear, including helmets, jackets, gloves, and sturdy riding boots. We recommend bringing your own gear, but rental options may be available. 

WILL THERE BE SUPPORT VEHICLE FOR THE TOUR?

Yes, support vehicles will accompany the group to assist with luggage transportation and provide aid if needed. Support vehicle will also have an accompanying mechanic, who will help in the event of any issues with the motorcycles. Each morning, they will also perform checks on the motorcycles to ensure they are good to go for the day ahead. 

HOW WILL THE ACCOMODATIONS BE ARRANGED?

Accommodation will be provided in comfortable guesthouses or hotels. These are vetted accomodations in Himalayan villages and towns to ensure a high standard of comfort and balance with nature. 

IS TRAVEL INSURANCE RECOMMENDED FOR THIS TOUR?

Yes, it is mandatory to have motorcycle travel insurance that covers motorcycle riding, medical emergencies, and trip cancellations. 

WHAT IF I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?

Please inform us of any dietary restrictions during the booking process, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

CAN YOU CREATE A CUSTOM TRIP FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS?

At Elevation Riders, we understand that many of our customers travel with friends, and we often offer dedicated trips specifically for friend groups. For groups of fewer than eight, we are happy to accommodate requests, but please note that costs may vary depending on the specific arrangements. Each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure a tailored experience that meets your group's needs

 Ladakhi food is simple yet flavorful, reflecting the region's high-altitude climate and traditional way of life. Influenced by Tibetan cuisine, it features hearty dishes made from locally grown ingredients like barley, wheat, and vegetables. Staples include *thukpa* (noodle soup), *momos* (dumplings), and *skyu* (a stew made with dough and vegetables). Butter tea, made with yak butter and salt, is a common drink, offering warmth and energy in the cold climate. Ladakhi food is known for its nourishing, wholesome qualities, perfect for sustaining energy during mountain adventures. Besides this, there is strong flavor of foods from all around India.
